A Classic Italian Cocktail πŸ₯ƒπŸŠ

I have to admit that I’d never had a  Negroni Cocktail until very recently.  Basically because, once I find something I like, I can be a little reluctant to change things up.  I mean, let’s face it, there’s only so many hours ⏰ in any given week dedicated to cocktails 🍸πŸ₯ƒπŸ·, and I’m usually very afraid to make a mistakeπŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈ!   After hearing so many rave reviews, I had to give it a go.   I’m a lover of a little bitter in my cocktails and Compari is a bitter appertif.  If you like that sort of thing, give this a try.  It’s most refreshing.  If you love bitters, you’re going to love πŸ’• a Negroni Cocktail.

The Negroni is said to have been invented in Florence by an Italian count who demanded that the bartender replace the club soda in his Americano with gin.  Now, that’s my kinda Count.  I think its past time to take a trip to Italy and enjoy the proper ambiance to go with the cocktail.

An Americano Cocktail is similar to a Negroni, but there’s no gin and it’s  topped with a splash of club soda for a little refreshing sparkle!.

About Campari – What is it?

Campari is an alcoholic liqueur, considered an aperitif.  It’s made from an infusion of herbs and fruit (chinotto, which is a citrus and cascarilla, which is a herb) in alcohol and water.  It is a bitters, distinguishable by its dark red color.

Campari is often used in cocktails and is commonly served with soda water or citrus juice.  It’s also really good as a spritz with prosecco or other sparkling wines.

The Negroni Cocktail

This cocktail is super easy to make.  It’s equal parts gin, Campari and Sweet Red Vermouth.  Add to a rocks glass with a large ice-cube and stir to chill.  Garnish with a lovely orange peel twist and Bob’s your uncle!  Cheers!
